THE SHAKTI MATS:
Shakti Mats are known to help reduce stress and tension, promote sleep, promote muscle recovery, increase circulation, relieve back pain, headache & so much more. Regular use of the Shakti Mat helps promote blood flow, encourages muscle tension release, stimulates the release of endorphins and oxytocin (those “feel good” hormones that help reduce bring a sense of calm), helps develop postural awareness, helps us learn to connect with our breath, helps stimulate various acupressure points to invigorate and re-energise the body & mind and also helps to cultivate resilience by offering an opportunity to learn how to better support, encourage and coach ourselves through a difficult or painful experience. In this workshop, we will use the mats through our practice to help promote these qualities.
~ THE WORKSHOP:
This workshop is run by me, Nicole Du Guay. I will guide you with the use of the Shakti Mats, through various gentle yoga poses to help cultivate the qualities the mats offer. A major focus will be on learning to calm the mind through breath and supportive self-talk in order to learn ways to effectively release resistance and create more ease and flow in the body. Through learning these qualities on the Shakti Mats, we will become better able to draw on them for life experiences off the mat as well. No experience or knowledge of the Shakti Mats or yoga is necessary. Come with an open mind & heart, playful curiosity and a blanket for comfort!
